Special Fonts

This document uses special fonts in order to render the symbols and greek characters used to describe the mathematical equations. Some symbols were mapped in through the True Type "Ariel" font that comes with MS Windows and is available (10/1/96) from the MS Internet Explorer free software page at the Microsoft Web site.

Other symbols, in particular greek letters, use the font named "Symbol". This font is made available when Microsoft Windows sets up a Postscript printer driver. This is not a True Type font, though it does map symbols to the screen.

A standard for rendering greek letters and other symbolic language elements currently limits the utility of Web browsers. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send me an email (Stephen.Bialkowski@usu.edu).
