In the News...Research at USU
Alina Sergeeva, Alexander Boldyrev and Dmitry Zubarev found an all-boron analogue of naphthalene B162-, thereby extending the growing family of pure boron analogues of hydrocarbons. A natural question is whether they can identify analogues of larger all-boron π-aromatic systems such as anthracene or other polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which are being actively pursued in their laboratories.

Dr. Steve Scheiner
Alvan Hengge has been named the College of Science's Undergrad Research Mentor of the year. His efforts and success in this direction are a reflection of his dedication and skills. Such work is not always recognized when it comes to counting publications and grants. Congratulations Dr. Alvan Hengge.

Dmitry Zubarev, who just defended his PhD dissertation in March this year, was named the College's Graduate Researcher of the year. This recognition is very well deserved. Dmitry's accomplishments with Alex Boldyrev are a credit to the entire department, and reflect nicely on the quality of our graduate program.
