Assessment Outcomes Data Report
CHEM 2320
– SPRING 2007
Instructor: Cheng Wei Tom
Chang
Course Description:
The course is second part of the two-semester organic chemistry designed
for science major. Continuing from the fundamental knowledge students
have learned from the first semester organic chemistry (Chem2310), this
course focuses on delivering more in-dept reaction mechanisms, synthetic
strategies and applications in organic chemistry.
Enrollment: 156
Assessment method:
There will be twenty multiple choice questions for the assessment with
a total of twenty points. These points will be bonus points and will
be added to your total point for determining your final grade.

(electron-pushing mechanism)
Number of Students who Response: 62
| Outcome | % correct | Note |
| Excellent | 5 | Those who answer perfectly. |
| Very good | 11 | Those students whose answer contains only one minor mistake. |
| Good | 16 | Those students whose answer contains more than one minor mistake. |
| Fair | 68 | Those students whose answer contains many mistakes. |
Summary:
Most of the students show significant improvement based on the assessment results. The method of material delivery is deemed satisfactory. However, in the optional electron mechanism question, only few students can answer with a level of very good and above. I will fortify the teaching of mechanism by displaying more examples and more practices in the future.
